All correspondence addressed to inmates/detainees must be sent through the United States Postal Service (USPS) and comply with USPS Regulations. All mail that enters and leaves the facility is subject to search.

Contraband cannot be mailed to the facility. Contraband is defined as illegal or prohibited traffic in goods, and goods or merchandise whose importation, exportation, or possession is forbidden.

Inmates/detainees will be allowed to have money orders sent to them while incarcerated. Funds will be sent directly to inmates/detainees at the facility to be placed in the inmate/detainee’s account. Funds must be in the form of a money order or cashier check made payable to the inmate/detainee. There is no limit to the amount of funds that the inmate/detainee may receive on any given day.

All funds must clearly indicate the inmate/detainee’s name and BOC number and may be included with incoming general correspondence.
Cash will not be accepted.
Personal checks will not be accepted.
Checks made out to multiple parties will not be accepted.
Foreign currency will not be accepted.

All mail too large to fit in an envelope should be sent in a USPS flat rate box.

UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE (USPS) REGULATIONS
The USPS prohibits the mailing of any of the following:
Potentially hazardous materials that are not properly marked and packed;
Perishable items that are not properly marked and packaged;
Correspondence containing any vile, or obscene material and matter inciting violence or terrorism;
Solicitations that mimic billing statements, unless accompanied by a prominent disclaimer; and
Correspondence that bears deliberate imitations of postal markings and/or postal trademarks (e.g. “Priority Mail,” etc.).
Correspondents are personally responsible for the content of each item of correspondence they send through the USPS.
Any violation of laws governing correspondence will be referred to postal authorities and to appropriate criminal authorities. The sender may be subject to civil or criminal penalties and/or federal prosecution for violation of postal laws.
